Urban Peace Squad is an urban peace initiative born in Harlem, NY geared towards “bringing peace to the hood.” Urban Peace Squad is Black woman lead and an “own voices” community. This article was an exciting piece to write. I interviewed Bre Scullark, Founder of Urban Peace Squad, to learn more about her and the purpose of organizing such a space. I also have had the pleasure of writing other projects for them, such as their weekly newsletters.
